Where to look
- National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in): one place to apply for many central and some state schemes.
- Your state scholarship portal: most states run their own for residents.
- Your college or university: merit and need-based scholarships are often announced only on the notice board or website.
- Private and CSR scholarships from companies and foundations.
Documents to keep ready
- Previous year mark sheet
- Income certificate of the current financial year
- Caste or category certificate, if applicable
- Aadhaar linked to your bank account
- Fee receipt and bonafide certificate from your institution
Never miss a deadline
- Make a list of scholarships you are eligible for, with the last date of each.
- Set reminders one week and one day before each date.
- Apply early — portals slow down near the end.
- Check the status after applying; institution verification is a separate step.
