Hormonal Imbalance Impact Your Well-Being

How Can Hormonal Imbalance Impact Your Well-Being?

Many women have asked the question: How can hormonal imbalances impact your well-being? The truth is, hormonal imbalances are very common. Women have hormonal imbalances more often than men do and these hormonal imbalances do impact their health and their happiness. Although there are some medical conditions that cause hormonal imbalances, overall they are fairly normal.

Hormonal imbalance is usually considered a natural part of being a woman. Women have both estrogens and testosterone, both of which are male hormones. However, when women experience imbalances in their hormones, they may notice that their moods and energy levels change and they can even start to feel like they are going to fall out of love with themselves. When you find out how can hormonal imbalance impact your well-being, you will understand why this change can be so disheartening for some women.

Endocrine disorder

Hormonal imbalance is just one of the symptoms of an endocrine disorder (Diseases of the Endocrine system). If you are wondering how can hormonal imbalance impact your well-being, the first thing you need to know is that an imbalance in hormones is not abnormal. It is estimated that millions of women around the world have hormonal imbalances. These imbalances, especially if they are due to an underlying medical condition, can affect your heart health, your cholesterol levels, your blood pressure and your energy levels. In addition, it can also cause a number of other symptoms such as weight gain, mood swings, fatigue, depression, facial hair growth, and dry skin and wrinkles.

Sleep deprivation

Hormonal imbalance occurs when a woman produces more of the hormone estrogen than progesterone. This is not the only hormone being produced but it is the one that is responsible for menstruation. If estrogen levels become too high, menopause can occur which is usually associated with hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Menopause also causes the ovaries to stop making eggs and the result is infertility.

Women that suffer from menopause often wonder how can hormonal imbalance impact your well-being? There are a number of things that can happen to cause an imbalance in hormones. For instance, during pregnancy the uterus makes both progesterone and estrogen. However, as soon as the fetus exits the uterus, the estrogen level drops and progesterone levels increase. This can cause a significant shift in the brain’s wiring and this can result in symptoms such as mood swings, hot flashes, sleep disturbance and facial hair growth.

Sudden mood swings

How can hormonal imbalance affect your well-being? If you think about it, the body has to be able to adjust the hormones that it is making to account for the changing environment. But, when the body doesn’t get the right signals, it can create imbalances. One such imbalance is estrogen dominance. This occurs when one or both sides of the brain produces more of the hormone than the other. Symptoms of estrogen dominance include hot flashes, night sweats and facial hair growth.

Another way how can hormonal imbalance impact your well-being is if there is an imbalance between the pituitary gland and the thyroid. The pituitary gland sends signals to the thyroid gland. When the thyroid produces too many hormones, it can interfere with the normal activities of the adrenal glands. This imbalance can lead to increased body temperature, fatigue, depression, anxiety and weight gain.
